Race Number/Chip Transfer Policy Race numbers and chips are non-transferable. Transferring your number and/or chip to another participant and/or receiving a transferred number and/or chip will result in disqualification from this and future races. Mandatory Bike Drop Off All participants will be required to drop off bikes to the transition area at Bartlett High School on Saturday, May 15, between 3:30 and 8:30 p.m. Only participants are allowed in the transition area. A non-racer delivering a bike will not be allowed to set up the transition area, rather, a transition area volunteer will place the bike. The racer may come on race morning during the designated times to set up the transition area. Bikes will be secured in the transition area overnight. There will be access to the transition area the morning of the race from 7:00-8:00 a.m. However, bikes will not be allowed to enter or exit the transition area during this time. Financial Assistance The Gold Nugget Triathlon will not deny participation because of financial need. Our goal is that all girls and women can participate, regardless of income. Calculating Your Time To help better manage the flow of the race and to promote the safety of all race participants we are asking all racers to calculate the time in which they think they will complete each section of the race. These calculations are intended to be estimates only. Triple Finisher Patch The Gold Nugget Triathlon is one of the four women’s events for which you can earn the Triple Finisher Patch. For more information, contact Rosy Jacobsen at 248-5605, Jacobsens@gci.net, or visit the Web page at www.alaskansites.com/triplefinish/. Volunteers Volunteers are always needed before, during, and after the race. It may be possible to obtain a lower bib number in order to volunteer in the afternoon: any such options available will be presented in online registration when you check the box to be a volunteer. Release of Information
Mother-Daughter Teams Participants wishing to enter the Mother/Daughter division may make this designation online. Each participant must register separately. A mother may register with more than one daughter. Mother-daughter teams do not count against your participation in one other corporate, school, or open team. USA Triathlon Membership The Gold Nugget Triathlon is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. USAT provides the triathlon with insurance and race support. All participants are required to be members of USAT in order to participate. Annual and single-day memberships are available for participants 18 and over. If you are not an annual member, your race entry form will serve as your one-day membership application. The one-day membership fee of $10 is included in your race fee. If you want to purchase an annual USAT membership, sign up on line at www.usatriathlon.org then pay the USAT member amount for the Gold Nugget Triathlon when you register, then bring your receipt and/or your membership card to bib pickup. (Bring receipt if you haven’t received your card.) NEW USAT rule: Participants 17 and under are required to have an annual membership. The cost is $5. This fee will be included in your Gold Nugget Triathlon registration fee unless you are already a USAT member; in which case you should provide the membership number when you register and your Gold Nugget Triathlon fee will be adjusted accordingly. A parent/guardian will be asked to complete the annual application for new USAT members who are 17 and under at bib pick-up. The USAT Web site will also give you more information about USA Triathlon, including member benefits such as national age group rankings. The Gold Nugget Triathlon is a qualifier for the USAT National Age Group Championships. Refund Policy Regrettably the Gold Nugget Triathlon will NOT be issuing refunds for the 2010 event, for ANY reason. There will also be no waiting list this year, as we are capping the race at 1500 rather than 1400. We hope that those of you who recollect that we did have a waiting list and a refund policy last year will recognize that 2008’s policy was an exception to the norm of both our event and triathlons in general; the vast majority of sporting events do not issue refunds.
