Swimming
Masters Swimming - Team practices with coaching, ideal for people who can swim freestyle reasonably well, and can swim for more than 1,000 yards in one practice.

Adult Swim Lessons - For those of us who are not comfortable participating in a structured practice with a team, or are not proficient enough at any of the strokes, there are swim lessons provided at a variety of different venues in the Anchorage  area. Some of these places include:

Triathlon-specific Training
Mulitsport Training of Alaska offers a comprehensive package of clinics and training sessions. Owned and operated by Lisa Keller, workouts are available for every level of fitness and expertise.  www.multisporttraining.ak.com/

The Alaska Triathlon Club works  to foster the sport of triathlon at all levels, from beginners to seasoned racers. The club will offer a variety of clinics, some free and some fee-based throughout the months leading up to the Gold Nugget Triathlon, as well as races later in the summer. The cost to join is $25.00 for a yearlong membership. More details are available on their web site: www.alaskatriathlon.org

The Alaska Club offers a variety of programs and clinics to prepare their members (and nonmembers) for triathlons. www.thealaskaclub.com

There are several  internet sites that offer comprehensive training programs to prepare for triathlons.  This site, www.trinewbies.com is geared mainly for new triathletes and offers FREE information.

Swimming is 90% technique. Swim with a masters group to improve quickly.

To improve time-trial skills, participate in the Arctic Bicycle Club's time-trial races. All are welcome! And don't forget the Bike For Women.

To gain a bit more speed for the running leg, try track workouts. They're way more fun with friends, so check out a track club
